My hairy friend came a long distance to pose with me. I did travel some to meet with him and Don did get our picture. Star Wars is here !!! In Texas, we grow them taller but not all of my friends are this much taller than my 6'2".
We sailed out of Fort Lauderdale, FL on February 2, 2002 on the M/V Zaandam to visit Curacao, La Guaira, Trinidad, Martinique, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay before our cruise ended in Fort Lauderdale on February 12. We had dinner with the Kevin Gilbert family the night before we sailed. Don did the Angel Falls tour in Venezuela. This cruise celebrated our 40th wedding aniversary.
On April 5-7, we enjoyed our 45th and 46th high school reunion in Beaumont, TX. Then on April 8, 2002, we sailed from Galveston on the M/V Celebration with our Supper Club group. We had 24 people on the 5 day cruise to Mexico.
On April 21, 2002, Don and I flew up to Covington, KY to attend the meeting of the presidents and spouses of the various Ashland Retirees Clubs around the U.S. There are 14 clubs. We had dinner Sunday evening with high school friends Leonard and Betsy Farr who live in Columbus, OH. After the meeting, we picked up a rental car and drove to Athens, OH to visit my Aunt Mary Halbirt. Then we drove around West Virginia and Kentucky. The horse farms out of Lexington were a fun tour!
We left on a driving trip on May 24, 2002 to Orlando, FL. We had 7 nights at a condo in Orlando with one night on the road in each direction and returned on June 2nd. One day was at the Disney World Animal Kingdom and another at Cocoa Beach to watch a space shuttle flight. However bad weather delayed the flight for several days. It was a good R & R trip.
We went by air to Seattle on August 27, 2002 for 2 days in Port Angeles, WA and Olympic National Park and the Hoh rain forest. Then we 2 days in Victoria, BC, 2 days in Tofino, BC (Pacific Rim Park) and 3 days in Vancouver. This was our fourth trip to Victoria and second trip to Pacific Rim Park on Vancouver Island. A fun place to tour is Butchart Gardens in the Victoria area. A drive out of Vancouver to Fraser Canyon was a day trip doing the Hells Gate Airtram, Yale and Hope, BC. After our tour of the sights in Vancouver, we returned for 2 days in Seattle before flying home on September 7.
We did a RCCL cruise on October 27 - November 3, 2002. The M/V Rhapsody of the Seas sailed out of Galveston to Key West, Belize and Cozumel before we return to Galveston. The only rain was in Belize.
We will go to San Antonio for a fun weekend on December 28 - 30, 2002.
